Dr. Kishor Jaiswal, an IIT Bombay alumnus, has received the prestigious Meritorious Service Award from the U.S. Department of the Interior for his contributions to earthquake risk assessment.
As Chief of Engineering and Risk Projects at USGS, he played a key role in developing PAGER, a system that rapidly assesses earthquake casualties and economic losses, aiding global disaster response. He has also led FEMA studies and contributed to the Global Earthquake Model (GEM).
Jaiswal, who has authored 150+ publications, frequently advises the U.S. President on earthquake crisis response. His work continues to shape disaster resilience worldwide.
